Registration Information
IMPORTANT: For any NEW vehicle registrations, we cannot give a proper estimated cost of registration without the necessary paperwork. Listed below is a list of all required documents needed to register a new vehicle.
1. Title to the Vehicle (Needs to have both the seller(s) and buyer(s) signatures on it) - This is required for ALL private sales for vehicles 25 years and newer.
Dealership Sales: You need the Title Application. If you are leasing the vehicle we need the COVER SHEET to the lease agreement.
2. Bill of Sale - Must have buyer(s) and sellers signature(s), along with vehicle information (Make, Year, Model) and VIN number, Date of Purchase, Purchase Amount.
Dealership Sales - You need the itemized invoice.
3. Maine Vehicle Insurance
IMPORTANT: If you buy a BRAND NEW vehicle from a dealership, we MUST have the "window sticker" that shows the MSRP value of your vehicle.
IMPORTANT: If you need a FIREFIGHTER or DISABILITY plate, you HAVE to get them from a Bureau of Motor Vehicles Branch. They will require you to come pay your Excise Tax FIRST before you can go to their branch.
