On Monday, September 24, Route 1 in Wiscasset will close from 9 PM to 5 AM. This closure will allow time for work crews to upgrade the railroad crossing on the Wiscasset end of the Donald E. Davey Bridge. This work is part of a set of comprehensive improvements to downtown Wiscasset along US Route 1 from the Fort Hill Street/Federal Street intersection to the Donald E. Davey bridge. There are also several improvements along Railroad Avenue including the construction of a new parking lot. Because the work takes place during overnight hours, there are minimal impacts for the traveling public. *Route 218 (Federal Street) has a weight restriction of 6,000 lbs for thru vehicles. This will be waived for the duration of the Route 1 closure. Construction hours on the Wiscasset project are usually Sunday through Thursday, 8 PM to 6 AM. Work began in June, 2018 and it is expected to be completed in October, 2018 click here for the brochure —– wiscasset closure
