HOW TO RETURN ABSENTEE BALLOTS

Absentee ballots must be received in the Clerk’s Office or at the polls NO LATER THAN 8:00 PM ON ELECTION NIGHT (November 3rd)

ONCE YOUR BALLOT IS COMPLETED AND PLACED INSIDE THE RETURN ENVELOPE, YOU CAN EITHER:

  • MAIL YOUR BALLOT BACK TO THE TOWN OFFICE –To ensure your ballots reach us by that deadline we suggest mailing the ballot back by NO later than October 26, 2020 – Town of Newcastle, PO Box 386, Newcastle, ME04553

Apply postage of .55 cents to the return envelope. You do not need to return these instructions.

  • RETURN YOUR BALLOT TO THE TOWN OFFICE: DROP BOX – Please use the slot just to the left of the front door, ensure your ballot is all the way in the drop box and that the flap is fully closed.
  • RETURN YOUR BALLOT TO THE TOWN OFFICE: OVER THE COUNTER – Please make an appointment to hand deliver your ballot over the counter. 563-3441

If your ballot will be delivered to the Clerk’s office by someone other than your immediate family (not including by mail) this is considered delivery by a ‘third person’ and will require 2 people to complete the Witness Certificate located on the back of the return envelope  – even if you do not require an Aide.  FAILURE TO DO THIS COULD RESULT IN YOUR BALLOT NOT BEING COUNTED.  Third person delivery can only be done if you have previously designated your permission via your absentee ballot request.

If you have questions or make a mistake marking your ballot, call the Newcastle Town Office for instructions: (207) 563-3441 or email the Town Clerk at [email protected].

REMINDER: Please make sure you signed the absentee ballot envelope!
